The Dija Meta aged and disabled hostel is operated by the Congress Community Development and Education Unit Limited. The hostel provides services that cater to the unique aged care and disability needs of local Aboriginal and Islander people, most of which are situated in Cape York, Queensland, and the surrounding communities. The hostel provides accommodation and care services, and is staffed by registered nurses, endorsed enrolled nurses, and assistants in nursing, many of whom are Indigenous themselves. Dija Meta implements a continuous quality improvement program to ensure high standards of quality care are maintained, and aims to provide elders with a place of cultural, spiritual and social harmony.
