Shire of Derby/West Kimberley Aboriginal environmental health program
Overview
The aim of this program is to provide environmental health services to Aboriginal communities in the Derby/West Kimberley region of Western Australia (WA).
This program is carried out by an Environmental Health Officer/Building Surveyor and two Aboriginal Field Support Officers.
The types of activity done as part of this program include:
- building inspections
- waste-water disposal inspections
- food safety inspections
- dog health injections
- germ education
- clean-ups and car body removal
- pest control
- mosquito-borne disease monitoring
- infectious disease investigation
- surveys and research
- support for graduate Environmental Health Workers.
