Overview

The Victorian Department of Justice has funded the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service (VAHS) to participate in the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service youth justice project research project which investigates Koori youth and the juvenile justice system. A VAHS researcher, with the assistance of the VAHS Youth Justice Steering Committee, will be talking with community members about initiatives and programs which aim to reduce the negative contact of young people with the justice system. The discussion will include youth workers, justice workers, Elders and youth. This project will help the Department of Justice and the Koori community develop and build upon current programs which aim to reduce contact with the juvenile justice system.
