The Strong literacy and numeracy in communities pilot aims to improve learning outcomes of children from infancy through the early years of schooling in five primary schools in remote and provincial locations across the Northern Territory. The early years element encourages parents and carers to participate in learning and development activities before the children begin formal schooling. The primary years element focuses on helping paraprofessional staff, particularly Indigenous staff, to support the delivery of quality teaching and learning of English literacy and numeracy.
