Overview

The Danila Dilba eye health program is aims to improve the eye health of Indigenous people living in the greater Darwin area, and in remote Top End Indigenous communities from Maningrida to Wadeye (including the Tiwi Islands). The program employs an Indigenous health worker whose responsibilities include:

• providing screening for diabetic eye disease
• delivering health promotion/education to improve the follow up and management of eye disease
• raising awareness of the importance of regular eye reviews
• increasing the access of primary eye care for Indigenous people.
