Kakadu Health Service staff are working with the Remote Tobacco Coordinator from the Northern Territory Department of Health's Alcohol and other drugs program to develop and implement the Kakadu 100 quit club. This project aims to have 100 local Bininj residents attempt to quit smoking. The program was instigated after developing a community profile on housing, health, education, employment and tobacco use in Jabiru, with tobacco being identified as the number one area of key concern. After completion in Kakadu, the intention is for the project to be rolled out across the Northern Territory, targeted at 20 growth towns.
