Strong spirit strong future

 

Overview

The Drug and Alcohol Office of Western Australia (WA) received funding over four years to develop a suite of culturally secure Aboriginal Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) prevention initiatives and resources. The WA FASD Prevention Aboriginal Consultation Forum 2010 was held to seek the input and guidance of senior Aboriginal professionals, Aboriginal community members, and people who provide services to Aboriginal people, into the project's development.

The Strong spirit strong future project commenced in July 2010 and was funded by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Indigenous Early Childhood Development National Partnership Agreement, after an extensive consultation and endorsement process led by Aboriginal Regional Health Planning Forums across Western Australia.

The Strong spirit strong future project was developed by the Drug and Alcohol Office of WA to produce, among other aims, culturally secure Aboriginal Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) resources.
