The Strong Spirit Strong Future project commenced in July 2010 and was funded by the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) Indigenous Early Childhood Development National Partnership Agreement, after an extensive consultation and endorsement process led by Aboriginal Regional Health Planning Forums across Western Australia.

The Strong Spirit Strong Future project was developed by the former Drug and Alcohol Office of Western Australia (now the Mental Health Commission) to produce, among other aims, culturally secure Aboriginal Fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD) resources. A media campaign, including audiovisual resources in the form of video and radio advertisements, was produced as part of this project.
