Description

This guideline provides advice on the legal requirements for safely removing asbestos and asbestos containing materials (ACM) from a workplace including buildings and infrastructure, plant and equipment and vehicles.

The guideline, which regulates asbestos in the workplace, has been adopted by all Australian, state and territory jurisdictions and therefore provides a consistent, national approach to the control of hazardous substances in Australian workplaces.

Please note that the work practices and precautions that need to be adopted for the removal of ACM vary considerably, depending on the type of ACM involved, their condition and location, so the controls discussed in this guideline therefore need to be adapted to the particular circumstances of each asbestos removal process.
