Central Land Council (CLC)

 

Description

The Central Land Council (CLC) is a Commonwealth Government statutory body which operates under both the Aboriginal Land Rights Act and Native Title Act. The main objective of the CLC is to represent and promote Aboriginal rights. The council is made up of 90 Aboriginal people who are elected from communities in the southern parts of the NT. The CLC is divided into nine regions based on 15 Aboriginal language groups found within these regions.
