Australian National Council on Drugs (ANCD)

Description

The Australian National Council on Drugs (ANCD) was established as part of the Federal Government's response to reduce the harm caused by drugs in the community. It plays a critical role in ensuring the views of the many sectors involved in addressing alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems, as well as the community, are heard.

An important component of the ANCD's work is to ensure that policies, strategies and directions in the AOD field are consistent with the National drug strategic framework.

The ANCD website also provides information on AOD use in Australia, news and events, and reports and publications.

In December 2014, ANCD was defunded which led to the closing of their website. The content from the ANCD website has been archived by the Alcohol Tobacco and Other Drug Association ACT and is available for download.
