Australian Sports Commission (ASC)

Description

The ASC is Australia's primary national sports administration and advisory agency. The roles and responsibilities of the Commission are laid out in the Australian Sports Commission Act. The Commission is governed by a board of Commissioners appointed by the Australian Government. The ASC promotes an effective national sports system that offers improved participation in quality sports activities by all Australians and helps those who are talented and motivated to reach their potential excellence in sports performance. The ASC achieves this by administering and funding innovative national sporting programs on behalf of the Australian Government and providing leadership, co-ordination and support for the sport sector.
