Vision 2020 Australia was established in 2000 as part of Vision 2020: The right to sight - a global initiative of the World Health Organization and the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness to eliminate avoidable blindness and vision loss by the year 2020.
The organisation's aim is to be the national advocate to government working in partnership with members for policy change and for the funding of programs that will eliminate avoidable blindness and vision impairment and ensure community participation of people who are blind or vision impaired in Australia and region.
This organisation is not Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander specific.
