Centre for Aboriginal Studies, Curtin University

The Centre for Aboriginal Studies at Curtin University, Western Australia (WA) is a self determining, self managed academic school. It aims to contribute to positive social change for Indigenous Australians through higher education and research. The Centre for Aboriginals Studies is designed to inspire a sense of belonging, autonomy and strength in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to enhance increased participation in tertiary studies. The Centre ensures all education is culturally appropriate, and works towards creating new ways of learning and working for the benefit of all people. Aboriginal communities throughout WA have input into, and cooperate with, the Centre in working towards these goals. Through an Aboriginal Advisory Committee and other mechanisms, the Centre strives to be responsive to the needs of Aboriginal communities.
