Department of Social Services

Description

The Australian Government's Department of Social Services exists to support the Government and, through Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries, to deliver on a broad range of social policy outcomes.

The department aims to be Australia's main source of advice on social policy and works in partnership with other government and non-government organisations to manage a range of programs and services designed to support and improve the lives of Australians.

The Department of Social Services was previously known as the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs.
