Centre for Mental Health, NSW

In 2006 the Centre for Mental Health combined with the Centre for Drug and Alcohol and the Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy, and Community Drug Strategies, to form the Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Office (MHDAO).

Prior to this the Centre was responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring strategies for transition to the mental health service development agreed under the National mental health strategy and the Australian health care agreements.

The Centre was also responsible for developing and maintaining the regulatory framework for the delivery and monitoring of mental health services under the Mental Health Act 1990 and related legislation affecting clients of mental health services.
