Description

The primary purpose of the Tangentyere Council is to serve as the major service delivery agency for the 18 Housing Associations known as 'town camps' in Alice Springs. The council provides assistance to Aboriginal people in obtaining legal tenure of the land they are living on so that they will have access to essential services and housing.

The Tangentyere Council also coordinates other services including:

• a range of family and youth services
• a night, day and youth patrol
• a research hub
• an art centre
• an aged and community care program
• a community banking facility
• not for profit enterprises
• a family wellbeing program that addresses the emotional and social wellbeing of Aboriginal people
• specific programs that address alcohol and other drug problems.
