Victorian Aids Council/Gay Mens Health Centre

Description

The Victorian AIDS Council/Gay Men's Health Centre (VAC/GMHC) was founded during a public meeting of the Melbourne gay community. The VAC/GMHC seeks to improve the health, social, and emotional wellbeing of HIV positive, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people in Victoria.

The population groups VAC/GMHC work to serve include: HIV positive communities; HIV vulnerable or at risk communities; and gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender communities.

VAC/GMHC provides the following core services: preventive health strategies (e.g., education) that build the capacity of HIV vulnerable and at risk individuals and communities; care and support for HIV positive individuals and communities; and advocacy for social justice for HIV positive, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals and communities.
