Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Service Metropolitan

Description

Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Service (SAMHS) Metropolitan is the peak body for Indigenous mental health professionals in Western Australia, and supports both Indigenous consumers and carers in accessing mainstream health services, and in better meeting the needs of Indigenous people.

The health service is located at De Gray House, Graylands Health Campus, and provides statewide consultation/liaison with service providers and the community, and advocacy for Indigenous consumers.

SAMHS operates with cultural integrity using strategies to include brokering of elders, and traditional healers to participate in particular clinical classes.
