AFL Cape York

Description

AFL Cape York (AFLCY) was established in 2003 with the main purpose of coordinating the Australian Football League (AFL) Kickstart program among primary and secondary children in the remote Indigenous communities of Cape York. AFLCY staff travel to 25 Cape York and Torres Strait Island communities implementing sporting and lifestyle programs as a vehicle to address health and educational issues.

Cape York House opened in 2013 to provide a culturally appropriate, safe and secure residential environment so young men reach their full potential. The house will be home to young Indigenous men from Far North Queensland's remote communities while they attend secondary school.
