Western Australian Substance Users Association Inc (WASUA)
Description
The Western Australian Substance Users Association Inc (WASUA) is a peer-based drug user organisation representing illicit drug users. WASUA uses a community development and harm minimisation service delivery approach. Its services include:
- needle and syringe exchange program (Perth and South West region)
- street-based outreach program
- health clinic (free hepatitis B vaccinations and testing for sexually transmitted infections and bloodborne viruses)
- education, training and support services for health workers
- telephone information service
- hepatitis C and illicit drug use peer education projects
- information/counselling on treatment options and supported treatment referral service
- opioid pharmacotherapy (methadone, buprenorphine)
- advocacy and complaints service
- needle and syringe safe disposal project.
