Foundation for Surgery
Description
The Foundation for Surgery is the charity group of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). It actively supports innovative surgical research, aid projects in underprivileged communities, skills transfer and education programs in the region.
The foundation has committed to addressing the health challenges faced in Indigenous communities in Australia and New Zealand and has recognised that significant and urgent improvements need to, and can, be made to Indigenous Health and Health Care.
In support of this commitment, the foundation funded development of Indigenous health evidence based action plans (EBAPs) in the areas of:
- renal transplantation kidney disease and transplantation
- eye diseases and cataracts
- ear, nose and throat (ENT) health and otitis media
- trauma road injuries.
