Family Action Centre

 

Description

The aim of this multidisciplinary centre, based at the University of Newcastle, is to strengthen families and communities through support programs, information sharing, advocacy, research, training and the creation of models of practice that promote sustainability, social justice and community leadership in New South Wales (NSW). The centre supports both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian families.

The Family Action Centre is concerned with integrating direct service to strengthen families and communities with research, teaching and dissemination, with the ultimate aim of improving policy and practice in this field.

Past and present Indigenous programs and resources developed by the centre include:

The Centre is self-funded, receiving funds from departments of the NSW State Government and the Commonwealth Government, from philanthropic organisations, and from corporate and private sponsorship.
