Family Action Centre

 

Description

The aim of this multidisciplinary centre at the University of Newcastle is to strengthen families and communities through support programs, information sharing, advocacy, research, training and the creation of models of practice that promote sustainability, social justice and community leadership in New South Wales (NSW). The centre supports both Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australian families.

In conjunction with Indigenous fathers, the Centre has developed resources and programs to promote the ways in which Indigenous men are important to the lives of their children. Past and present Indigenous programs and resources developed by the centre include:

The Centre is self-funded, receiving funds from departments of the NSW State Government and the Commonwealth Government, from philanthropic organisations, and from corporate and private sponsorship.
