The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Suicide Prevention Advisory Group was established in 2011 to provide guidance on the development of Australia's first national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suicide prevention strategy.
The Advisory Group will also oversee the development and implementation of an evaluation framework for suicide prevention activities. To inform the development of this framework, a comprehensive evaluation will be undertaken of Indigenous-specific suicide prevention activities funded by the Australian Government from 2006 to 2013 under the National suicide prevention program (NSPP) and the 2010 Taking action to tackle suicide package.
