Kimberley Dental Team

Description

This not-for-profit organisation delivers the services of volunteer dental professionals to Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley region of Western Australia (WA), where access to dental health services can be limited. The model used for the program is inspired by the Filling the Gap volunteer scheme in eastern Australia.

The Kimberley Dental Team works in partnership with the WA Department of Health's Dental Health Services, the University of Western Australia, the Kimberley Population Health Unit, and various Aboriginal Medical Services. It is also committed to providing workforce opportunities for Aboriginal people in the local community. The program has a dental health education component, and has produced illustrated resources for children, teachers and health care workers.
