Description

Kumangka Aboriginal Youth Service is an Aboriginal community controlled, not-for profit, youth organisation that aims to serve the needs of 'at risk' Aboriginal youth between the ages of 12-25 years. The service focuses on youth who frequent the inner city area of Adelaide, are homeless or at risk of homelessness, and participate in the unsafe and illegal use of illicit substances and alcohol.

Kumangka aims to:

• improve the health, safety and wellbeing of Aboriginal young people by increasing the number of Aboriginal young people to be diverted from the criminal justice system
• decrease the number of Aboriginal young people engaging in criminal activity and increase their awareness and ability to make appropriate life choices
• increase Aboriginal young people's access to support services including accommodation, health, education and training.
