Healthabitat

Description

Healthabitat is an Australian organisation that aims to improve population health by improving living environments. Healthabitat's philosophy is that health gains can't be achieved through medical services alone, and that healthy living environments are essential to human wellbeing.

Healthhabitat's main project in Australia is Housing for Health. Housing for Health aims to improve the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, particularly children 0-5 years of age, by ensuring access to safe and well-functioning housing. The project is based on nine Healthy Living Practices (HLPs):

Healthabitat strives to ensure that local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are actively involved in all aspects of its work, and are part of making their own communities safe and healthy.
