The Supported accommodation innovation fund (SAIF) has been established to build innovative, community-based supported accommodation places for people with disability. This initiative will help to address the shortfall in supported accommodation and respite for people with disability and their families and carers. This recognises that appropriate housing and support arrangements are critically important to supporting younger people with disability.
The target group for SAIF places is adults with severe or profound disability. Under SAIF, a person will be considered to have a severe or profound disability if the person has a severe or profound core activity limitation. The core activities are communication, mobility and self-care.
Applications seeking to provide places to the following groups may be given priority:
Completed applications are to be submitted by 2pm (AEST – Queensland time) on 20 January 2012
