Overview

Target audience: People who would like to increase their knowledge of Aboriginal culture

Course summary: This course is designed to increase understanding about cultural identity. An emphasis is placed on healing and building community sustainability. The training is facilitated by members of the local Indigenous community. Participants can share in the experience of ‘going out bush’ firsthand with Tiwi families. Topics covered by the training include:

• Tiwi culture
• cross-cultural communication
• the impact of attitudes
• beliefs on styles of work and communication
• key issues involved when collaborating with Aboriginal people.
