Indigenous health and cultural competency e-learning series



Target audience: People who are working or intend to work in an emergency department (ED)

Course outline: This course has been designed to expand understanding of culturally diverse patients in an emergency medicine setting. These patients include Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people for whom English is a second language.

The course is presented in three sections:

Section 1: Applying core concepts of culturally competent care in the ED, comprising four modules:

Section 2, Caring for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and other culturally diverse patients in the ED, comprising modules five to eight:

Section 3. A culturally competent approach to challenging presentations – comprising modules nine and 10:
