Target audience: Health professionals delivering care within primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Course summary: This interactive module aims to orientate participants to ear health within the remote Northern Territory (NT) context. It provides a summary of key elements with a view to providing direction for clinical application as well as areas for future learning. On completion of this module the health professional should be able to:

• demonstrate an increased knowledge of the management of otitis media and ear health

• identify the treatment, review and referral protocols for otitis media

• describe the behaviours consistent with hearing loss in different age groups

• describe how patients can access audiological/communication assessments, interventions and referrals

• have a system in place to access relevant resources and support systems available to the health professional which enable effective management of ear health in the remote NT context.
