Overview

Target audience: Indigenous Australians who wish to work as qualified Sport and Recreation Officers in Indigenous communities

Course summary: This course provides participants with the skills to plan and implement a range of sport and recreation activities at the community level, as qualified Sport and Recreation Officers. Some course units include, but are not limited to:

• SISXCAI102A - Assist in preparing and conducting sport and recreation sessions
• SISXOHS101A - Follow occupational health and safety policies
• SISXIND101A - Work effectively in sport and recreation environments
• SISXCAI101A - Provide equipment for activities
• SISCAQU202A - Perform basic water rescues.

Financial support for Indigenous students: This program is ABSTUDY approved. Students who qualify for ABSTUDY may be eligible to receive travel, accommodation and meal monies to attend residential study blocks in Cairns.
