Overview

Target audience: Rural emergency medicine/critical care physicians, general practitioners and nurse practitioners with little or no prior ultrasound experience

Course summary: This course provides participants with an introduction to the physics of ultrasound, tips and tricks on how to ultrasound, the diseases that can be diagnosed and hands-on practice. Topics can include:

• ultrasound physics and knobology
• applications of ultrasound in practice
• focused assessment with sonography for trauma (FAST)
• abdominal aorta aneurysm (AAA)
• other abdominal (kidney/gallbladder)
• basic pregnancy
• pneumothorax
• vascular access
