Immunisation education modules for practice nurses
Overview
Target audience: Primary health care nurses in general practice settings wishing to update their immunisation knowledge
Course summary: This course provides participants with up to date knowledge on immunisation. On completion of the module participants will have an understanding of:
- vaccination processes - the process of pre-vaccination counselling and appropriate techniques for vaccine administration
- practice issues - the ways to obtain vaccinations and methods for appropriate transport
- basics of immunisation - the relationship between the immune system and vaccine action
- awareness and prevention - the principles of travel vaccination and appropriate travel health advice
- medico-legal issues - vaccine administration regulations and nurse responsibility
- special risk groups - the issues related to vaccination in special risk groups and developing a vaccination policy and program.
