Overview

Target audience: Aboriginal Health Workers (AHWs) working in any organisation providing maternity services in Western Australia (WA).

Course summary: This course provides participants with up to date research-based information about maternal and child health. The course aims to empower women to make healthy life choices for themselves and their children before, during and after pregnancy. Course content includes:

• sexual and reproductive health
• pregnancy care
• smoking
• FASD
• nutrition
• birth and postnatal care
• safe sleeping practices
• perinatal mental health
• child health services.

Financial support for Indigenous students: Limited financial support for travel and accommodation may be available.
