Overview

Target audience: Care workers in Western Australia and South Australia with some prior experience in dementia care

Course summary: This course provides participants with the skills to facilitate support responsive to the specific nature of dementia. This course primarily covers knowledge and skills needed to provide guidance and support in implementing care plans for people with dementia in a variety of settings. Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:

• plan support requirements for those with dementia taking into account their care, social, and emotional needs
• provide guidance and support to care workers in the implementation of care plans
• offer guidance and support to family members
• develop and implement strategies to minimise behaviours of concern
• maintain documentation according to industry and organisational requirements
• provide better care as a result of enhanced skills and competence.

Fee payable: Free to eligible care workers in Western Australia and South Australia
