Overview

Queensland Health through the Cunningham Centre in partnership with Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE are offering this course. It will provide Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Health Workers with the opportunity to develop confidence and competence at a level specific to the role of Child and Youth Health Workers.

This course will feature the subject HLTAU501B: Conduct screening hearing test for children.

Pre-requisite requirements:

• HLTAHW301A Work in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander primary health care context
• HLTFA301B Apply first aid
• LTOHS300A Contribute to OHS processes
• HLTAHW302A Facilitate communication between clients and service providers
• HLTAHW304A Undertake basic health assessments
• HLTAHW305A Plan and implement basic health care
• HLTAHW306A Provide information about social and emotional support

This program will be supported by written resource materials, teleconferencing, e-mail technology, workplace mentoring and mandatory block training, which will be held in Toowoomba or by negotiation at other centres.
