Target audience: All health care professionals and others with an interest in sexual health and HIV medicine working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Course summary: This course provides participants with essential information in sexual health and HIV. Course content includes:

• history of sexually transmissible infections (STIs) and HIV
• transmission of STIs and HIV
• prevention of STIs and HIV
• pathogenesis of STIs and HIV
• histology and treatment of STIs and HIV
• examination of contemporary issues.

This course is a prerequisite for the Prescribers' course in HIV medicine and HIV nursing practice course.

Fee payable: Yes, but this only applies to interstate students
