Overview

Target audience: General practitioners interested in co-managing HIV positive people with a HIV specialist and providing general medical care

Course summary: This course provides participants with an understanding of issues facing HIV positive people that may relate to clinical care provided in the primary care setting. The course consists of two modules covering:

• epidemiology and natural history overview
• could this be HIV? - diagnosis in primary care
• risk assessment
• pre and post test discussion
• testing
• interpreting test results
• basics of antiretroviral therapy.

Participants interested in further educational development or who would like to become a HIV s100 community prescriber may also choose to go on to complete the HIV s100 prescriber course.
