This certificate is for workers who assist other health professionals in providing care to clients. Health Services Assistants have direct client contact and work under the supervision of other health professionals. This certificate involves the completion of six compulsory units and nine elective units. Some of the topics covered in this certificate level include: complying with infection control policies and procedures, communicating and working effectively, applying first aid, and providing support in an acute care environment. To be eligible for this course, applicants must be of Aboriginal descent, aged 17 years or older, and have basic reading, writing, and maths skills.
