Certificate III in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care



This certificate is the minimal qualification needed to work in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health. Workers with this qualification are afforded the title Aboriginal Health Worker and work in a health care setting providing services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Aboriginal Health Workers often receive ongoing supervision and guidance in their position and work as part of a team.

Who should enrol in this course?

  1. New and existing Aboriginal Health Workers needing to gain a starting qualification for further study or recognition or to meet current vocational requirements.
  2. Aboriginal workers seeking a career transition without a readily transferrable qualification pathway.
  3. Community members seeking entry into Aboriginal Health work (particular if sponsored by a member service).
