Certificate III in Community organising and development

This program provides training primarily for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people involved in community organising or facilitating roles in communities and organisations, particularly people facilitating self management.

The curriculum provides a balance of training in organising and development skills, leadership and communication skills. Students are grounded in the realities of the workplace through research visits to community organisations in the Cairns region.

Each trainee must be sponsored by a Community Council, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander organisation, Church or other community group. Sponsors are expected to support students in local practical experience, preferably through an organisation. Students are expected to respect the Christian ethos of the College.

The course is delivered on a part-time basis over two years. Students attend four, 2-week residential blocks in Cairns in each year and undertake several projects in their local community.
