Certificate IV in community services work

 

Overview

This course consists of 9 core units, plus 5 electives.
The 9 core units include:

  1. work within a community development framework
  2. identify and respond to children and young people at risk
  3. use targeted communication skills to build relationships
  4. work within a relevant legal and ethical framework
  5. work effectively in the community sector
  6. deliver and develop client services
  7. respond holistically to client issues and refer appropriately
  8. maintain an effective work environment
  9. work effectively with culturally diverse clients and co-workers.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to implement community based education and interventions and work in environments where services and interventions will be provided to clients. Graduates may be working in a range of contexts including, community-based organisations, residential rehabilitation services and outreach services.
