The Mental Health Services (The MHS) summer forum 2016

 

Overview

The forum theme, Cracks in the ice?, focusses on mental health issues related to drug use. The forum will examine the effect that these drugs have on the mental health of users and the consequences associated for families and carers, governments and mental health services.

The forum will bring together experts in the field in order to provide an informative session that covers all relevant issues. Questions in relation to the following will be discussed throughout the forum:

At this year's MHS summer forum, delegates were interested in what information was available to help in their work in alcohol and drugs and mental health. Research Officer, Avinna Trzesinski, showed delegates a variety of the resources available on the Australian Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs Knowledge Centre web resource, including:

Many of the 200 delegates took hard copies of the Review of illicit drug use among Indigenous people and Review of harmful use of alcohol among Indigenous people to share with their work colleagues, as well as pens, note-pads, brochures and bags.
