Australian Indigenous HealthBulletin

National vibe 3on3 basketball and hip hop challenge

Overview

The event aims to promote healthy lifestyles, strengthen communities and boost self-esteem. The event brings together Indigenous and non-Indigenous people for a fun free day of basketball, dancing, music, health and culture. The event encourages sportsmanship, teaches new skills and builds self-esteem, as well as promoting reconciliation at a grassroots level. The Vibe 3on3 provides a positive and engaging environment for local and community-based health providers, particularly Aboriginal Medical Services to interact with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, especially the young.

Hosted by some of Australia's deadliest Indigenous role models, the event features a 3on3 basketball tournament, rapping and hip-hop dance lessons, art workshops, a dance competition and a health expo, all accompanied by a backing track of the latest RnB, hip hop and Indigenous music. This year's event features Luke Carroll (MC/TV Star), Jimblah (DJ), Darren Compton from Move it mob style and many more Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander role models from across the nation to be confirmed.
