The theme of this conference is People places possibilities. This is the most important biennial event on the agenda of those interested in the health and wellbeing of people in rural and remote areas. The conference will have a strong focus on the social determinants of health, and presenters from sectors including education, employment, Indigenous affairs, community services, housing, transport, agriculture, fishing and mining will have an important place on the program.
The conference will allow delegates to exchange up-to-date information, with a focus on how health-related challenges have been met. It will feature research reports, reviews of successful health-related services, arts-and-health presentations and analysis of some of the key policy issues of the day impacting on rural wellbeing.
Abstract submissions close Friday 28 November 2014.
Online registration opens Wednesday 1 October 2014.
The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet ran an Australian Indigenous Alcohol and Other Drugs Knowledge Centre cafe at this conference, promoting the website and three newly launched alcohol and other drug (AOD) resources; the Community portal, the AOD workers' portal and the AODconnect iPhone app.
Research Officer, Avinna Trzesinski, was among more than 60 exhibitors at the conference which had over 1200 delegates. As well as presenting during a concurrent session on Day 3, Avinna showed a wide variety of health professionals the new resources and passed on promotional items.HealthInfoNet cafes
