The interpersonal theory of suicide

Overview

The Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP) is hosting a seminar and workshop on suicide risk by Dr Thomas Joiner.

The theory proposed by Dr Joiner provides a unified theoretical framework for the diagnosis and assessment of suicide risk, as well as for treatment and preventative and public health campaigns aimed at suicidal behaviour. This theory has resulted in the development of new and effective clinical guidelines for crisis intervention and therapeutic alliances in psychotherapy and suicide prevention. This workshop will provide clinicians with the tools to assess and intervene with suicidal persons.

Dates:

Please note that you must attend the seminar to be eligible to attend the workshop.
