8th state cancer conference

 

Overview

Cancer Council Western Australia is organising this conference. The biennial conference provides an opportunity to hear current advances in cancer research from eminent international, national and local researchers. The conference includes opportunities for medical and clinical researchers and public health professionals to share their research success with the cancer community. The conference program covers basic biology/laboratory research, prevention, early detection and treatment, and service delivery. Clinicians, researchers, scientists, cancer survivors, those working in service organisations and grass-roots community groups, and others with a specific interest in cancer are encouraged to attend.

HealthInfoNet Cafe

Cancer Council Western Australia's 8th state conference provided an opportunity to hear current advances in cancer research from eminent international, national and local researchers. The conference includes opportunities for medical and clinical researchers and public health professionals to share their research success with the cancer community. The conference program covered basic biology/laboratory research, prevention, early detection and treatment, and service delivery.

Clinicians, researchers, scientists, cancer survivors, those working in service organisations and grass-roots community groups, and others with a specific interest in cancer were encouraged to attend. Conference speakers included Associate Professor Eva Schernhammer - Department of Epidemiology, Harvard University, Assistant Professor Markus Frank - Department of Pediatrics, Harvard Medical School, Professor Michael Millward - Cancer Council Professor of Clinical Cancer Care, School of Medicine and Pharmacology, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital Unit And Associate Professor Penny Schofield - Research Director of Nursing and Supportive Care Research Department.

Approximately 300 delegates attended. The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet conducted a HealthInfoNet café at the event showing delegates the latest resources on the web resource and also provided the latest information to health practitioners and medical students about the Australian Indigenous ClinicalInfoNet a free web resource for chronic disease management and prevention.
