Launch of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan

Overview

The Hon. Warren Snowdon MP, Minister for Indigenous Health, will be launching the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Plan.

The Health Plan is a significant initiative which reflects the Australian Government's commitment to work in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and their representatives. As part of the efforts to close the gap, since 2011 the Australian Government has worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to produce the Health Plan, providing an opportunity to collaboratively set out a ten year plan for the direction of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health policy.

The Health Plan was developed as a collaborative effort after extensive consultations with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their representatives, health services, social determinant organisations, state and territory and local governments, and informed by advice from the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Equality Council and the Health Plan Stakeholder Advisory Group.
