This housing forum is hosted by RI Australia, the national disability rights network. The forum includes a panel discussion about Indigenous housing needs.
The panel discussion will bring together Indigenous community representatives, designers, environmentalists and researchers to assess the new housing being erected under the Government's Strategic Indigenous housing and infrastructure program (SIHIP) and the Sustainable accommodation innovation fund (SAIF). The discussion takes as its premise the fact that public housing must be accessible, affordable and culturally appropriate to meet the needs of Aboriginal individuals and families in community and urban settings.
