Overview

The Shire of Capel and the Western Australian (WA) Environmental Health Directorate are preparing a short course in mosquito management for Environmental Health Officers in the South West of WA.

The course will cover:

• basic biology and ecology of mosquitoes
• disease risks for the region
• ground surveillance and trapping of mosquitoes
• mosquito identification
• mosquito management options including physical and chemical control.

The course will include practical demonstrations of field surveillance techniques, field work for the collection of mosquito larvae and adults, and a demonstration of a range of mosquito control equipment.
